When Ronon arrived on the West Pier, Rodney was shifted to his animal form with his neck and head on the ground for Ronon to mount him.
Once Ronon is settled, Rodney takes off. They take some time just flying around, letting the wind caress their faces and underneath them.
Rodney ends up landing in a grassland area that was near a lake with a waterfall that Rodney liked to visit when he needed some time away from the busyness of Atlantis.
“Ready for a slight hike before we devour those chocolate oreo cookies?” Rodney asked with a slight leer, once he put one some pants and his boots.
Rodney led him on the path that he takes to the lake, pointing out some unique things like nests of certain animals that he’s gotten to know or weird flowers he’s noticed.
When they arrive at the lake, Ronon pulls and wraps his arms around Rodney’s waists and whispers, “Do you want to swim first or eat?”
“Well, since you’re supposed to sit for at least 30 minutes before swimming, I suggest that we at least take a quick dip in the lake.”
Rodney quickly kisses Ronon before disrobing his pants and boots to jump into the lake while screaming, “Last one is a rotten egg!” before splashing in the lake.
Ronon laughed to himself since he’s gotten somewhat used to the crazy Atlantian sayings or traditions on things. He quickly disrobed and joined Rodney in the lake.
They swam for a short while before Rodney demanded his chocolate. Being the supportive, indulgent mate, Ronon was willing to let Rodney dictate how they were going to spend the afternoon, within reason.
Once the blanket is laid out on the ground and most of the food unpacked, Ronon started to hand feed chocolate covered oreos to Rodney who kept moaning loudly with each bite. When Ronon feed him some apple slices, Rodney would eat them in bites before sucking on the last one, which often included Ronon’s fingers. Ronon’s eyes were becoming lustful as he watched his mate eat in a very seductive way.
To keep his mind off of devouring his mate, for now, Ronon wanted to approach a topic that had been on his mind since the mating.
“I know that we are recently mated but have you….have you thought about children?” Ronon asked softly. By mating with another male, he knew that he probably had to give up on the dream of ever having his own child, unless his mate would agree to something like adoption. Ronon knew that quite a few of shifter children were being abandoned as the Wraith were becoming more vicious with their attacks on known predominate shifter populations in the Pegasus Galaxy.
“I…I’m not really good with children.”
“You’re wonderful with Arianya.”
“She’s easy to please. Not all children are like that. You’ve seen how they tend to burst out in tears when I’m nearby or try to interact with them.” Rodney grumbled.
“If we could find a child like Arianya?”
“Maybe. I would consider it. Of course, we are both so busy as it on Atlantis that I don’t know how we would be able to take care of it, if we did adopt one?”
“John and Evan make it work with Arianya. I think the bigger issue would be Woolsey.”
“Don’t worry about him. If it comes down to it, I know how to make sure he sees our way.”
“So that’s a no?”
“It’s not a yes either. It’s a ‘we’ll wait to see what the future holds’.”
“Thank you.” Ronon says softly before leaning over and brushes his lips against Rodney. “Have I mentioned lately how much I love you?”
“Not today.” Rodney replied with a slight giggle. It’s a game that they play with each other. They try to tell each other everyday because they never know what might happen on Atlantis or on one of their away missions.
“Before we get too distracted, there is something else I want to discuss.”
Rodney pulls back and makes the “go ahead” motions with one of his hands.
“I know we have the mating bite but I was wondering if you would be willing to wear an obvious physical representation of our mating.”
“Like a wedding ring?”
“Or a tattoo. I did talk to Evan about this. He told me about Earth’s traditions in this regard. Unfortunately, if we did the traditional ring, then it would not adjust when you shift forms and I don’t want that or you loosing it due to that.”
“So you want me to get a tattoo?”
“Yes.” Upon seeing Rodney’s face, Ronon decided to tell him about the other option he learned about from Jarod. “There is another option. Jarod told me that Atlantis can alter the metal of jewelry so that it can shift with the animal of the wearer. He said that the process would not be harmful to the body or to any of the users.”
“Why weren’t we told about this before?”
“I don’t think anyone queried Atlantis about it. He happened to come across a reference to it in one of his translations. He was intrigued and went to search for more information about it.”
“Huh. Does Jarod know for a fact that it will work?”
“Well, as much as he at this point in time. I would be willing to test it.”
“Only if we have Carson nearby, in case something voodoo happens. I don’t want you harmed in anyway, especially after I just found you.” Rodney said with a slight blush to his cheeks.
“How about I go to the market on the mainland tomorrow to buy a ring so we can test it out with Carson nearby?”
“Sounds good, assuming I can go with you to pick it out.”
“I love how you complete me. You are my heart. My soul. My love.”
Having the words knocked out of Rodney, he leaned over and softly kissed Ronon before it turned heated. Soon, they were making love under the bright sun.
